Falling for Love is the fourth book in Marie Force's Gansett Island series. She writes about such wonderful characters in very interesting situations. You are so drawn to her characters that they start to feel like family. Not only do we get Grant and Stephanie's story in this novel, but she continues past stories and introduces new characters that you will want to follow in future books. Her descriptions of Gansett Island make you want to go see Rhode Island's Block Island. You can almost smell the ocean as you are reading. And, it wouldn't be too horrible to be trapped on that island with those yummy McCarthys for a week or so!

I think that I might have missed writing a review for Ready for Love, Marie's third in the McCarthys of Gansett Island series because I was too anxious to get on with the fourth, Falling for Love. I want to be sure to tell you folks reading this review about these books so that you too can be added to the growing number of her adoring fans. Marie handles catching up with the characters introduced in previous books and the flow of the story very well and rather quickly and painlessly. These novels can really stand by themselves but I prefer to get to know each character as the story evolves. As we learn each character's unique point of view, and their particular set of attributes, they take on a living presence. The books are also well edited as I have not lost the flow of the story or had to frantically reread any passages of the book to make better sense of them. Another strength Marie exhibits is that the love scenes she writes are frank, appropriate to the story, and often quite, for lack of a better term, hot! They are not gratuitous, meaningless or horribly cliche and make me smile and not cringe. My ONLY complaint has to do with the little "Thank You" note at the end of each book. The very first numbered opportunity listed rather cuts me to the quick! She reminds the reader that the book is lendable (thank you !!) and explains to readers that in lending the book to a friend... that SHE (the friend) might discover Marie Force's (wonderful and unforgettable - my words) books. SHE, mind you,... not "he",... nor "he or she"... but SHE! I feel hurt and quite left out and that I have no business reading these romances which appeal to me more and more! I'm sure there are more males out there who are loving these books and in the same boat as I (I hope). Fix it Marie and protect my fragile sensibilities, K? (I don't know about you, but I'm crying!)
Grant McCarthy was the McCarthy brother who left Gansett to seek his fortune in Hollywood as a writer. He finds himself disillusioned and in a writing slump, after winning an award, then his girlfriend Abby leaves him and returns to Gansett, because he only cared about his career and ignored her. He returns to Gansett for the family weddings, to find out that Abby is engaged to another guy, and he decides to get her back. Along the way, he meets Stephanie who works for his father, Big Mac, at the marina restaurant/snack bar. Stephanie is dealing with a weighty legal and financial problem, and Garrett decides to help. In the course of helping her, Garrett realizes that maybe, just maybe, Abby was right to walk away, and he sees so much more in Stephanie than he ever did in Abby.
This is the 4th book from the McCarthy's series by Marie Force and I have to tell you it is a great book! Usually, series tend to lose steam after the 3rd one, but this series keeps getting better and better! The book was well written, characters were lovable, plot was interesting and secondary stories within the book were also fantastic. I loved the banter and interaction between all the characters, but especially between Stephanie and Grant. Each book could stand on its own, but they are all so good that you wouldn't want to miss any of it and all the characters that live on this wonderful Gansett Island.
This is the story of Grant, who we met previously and was an accomplished writer. Although recently, his life seemed to be falling apart. He had not been writing for a while, he had no job, and his girlfriend of 10 years left him and come to find out, she was engaged to someone else! Stephanie was a lovely, hardworking girl who ran the restaurant at the McCarthy marina. Everyone loved her and though she was sweet and accomodating. Grant was always fighting with her, but during his sister Janey's wedding, he decides to make his ex jealous by flirting and having a good time with Stephanie. The more time they spend together, the more they begin to know each other.
The book was so enjoyable and the romance was off the charts! The romance scenes were hot and I felt it worked well with the book, especially when making us see the connection between Stephanie and Grant. It was fantastic to see how everyone from previous books were present and their stories continued on during this book. I cannot wait to see what is going to happen next in this island and to all those people I have come to love. Ms Force has done it again and I would give this book 6 stars if would allow it! )

Spending time together he learns of her troubles and wants to help. Faced with the same issue that he was with his ex Grant ask himself will he choose his career or love ? It's also great to hear what the other characters are up too and t h e up coming characters will be doing.
